Okay I am sort of caught in a weird situation between my brother's industry and my own.
He is a producer and has a TON of contacts looking for a sexy slike website and all. I'm guessing on average each site will cost around $10 000. Now my brohter wants a piece of the pie for sending me all these refereces. I also want to note we have decided professionally we are going to treat eachother as strangers -- just to keep things less complicated. His initial offer was 20%.. which I find outrageous. ;).

What percentages have you seen in the past for references.

The most I paid was a 10% finders fee, but then I just included that in the cost so I don't loose anything. My part was only worth about $3000.00 cad so it wasn't a lot of money.

Either a percetange or a flat fee of $750 or something since all he is doing is a introduction.

I started a business with my brother-in-law 5 years ago (the guy was the best man in my wedding). Everything was running well until we had a dispute over finances (who should be paid what)...at which point everything boiled over and it turned to complete hell. Long story short, he left the business to try and patch our relationship and we didn't talk to each other for about 6 months.

we're just now starting to become friends again and it's been over two years.

I'm certainly not saying this is going to happen to you, but it's an old adage and it definitely held true for me.
