it kind of hard to cement, as I mostly work on a pay scale I call "The scale of pain." The more pain/energy/whatever I have to put into a project, the more money I demand (I'm mostly a freelancer)
However, that may end soon since I'm starting up a new company which you all will find out more about soon enough.
In Corporate America I have found that typically anything over 15% has to come with a promotion. If it's just an annual review depending on the company, market, job and how you performed I think 3%-15% is somewhat average.
last year i received 5% salary, wow, considering that i only earn $1.50 / hour (our currency converted to $)...oh and by the way...in that $1.50 /hour rate, tax is still to be deducted...hehehe

That's horrible, where do you live? In America you'd need 150 hour weeks to survive at that rate.
