If I went back again before I decided to start learning PHP I would choose to go with ASP. Its a little harder to work with but its really the way to go if your specifically looking to make money.
To me ASP programmers are a little more distinguished.
Isn't it true that ASP coding is very similar to VB? I'm not familiar with Microsofts methods thats why I'm asking.

Without question...the highest paid/highest skilled programmers are C/C++ developers...
But...good luck getting a job in the next 5 years if your just starting now...
IMHO
PHP lends it self nicely to outsourcing...so you can easily land a freelance type job...work from home, etc...
ASP is more for a corporate environment which fell victim to M$ marketing gurus...but because it's corporate...you can more than likely find a steady job...
Of course...my opinion is bias and you can find either kind of job (freelance/full time) in either market, I personally just say that it's like the way I described...
Cheers
