GNU Licensing

Post by jyhm »

I have a little web page widget thingy that I wish to
distribute freely for non-profit use. It is a sports scorebox
that gets live sports scores from sportsline.com. At this point
only NBA and NFL work for presentation purposes as I have
yet to ask Sportline permission to use their information.
Hence, I have postponed completing the script until then.

But I was curious if anyone was familiar about GNU Licensing.
Or if I should even get one, or if my script even qualifies.

I just want to make it freely available to down load for
anyone to use or modify via a scripts com or my site. Here
is a link but it is just a demo as I have not fully tested the
script. Any input would be appreciated :D

Have you read the previous talks we've had over (GNU) licensing?

Never mind all,

I contacted sportsline and they flatly refused, almost instantly. Here is a quot from there legal dept.
Dear jyhm,
SportsLine.com does not wish to take part in your current software venture. Please refrain from using the CBS and SportsLine logos on your materials immediately.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions.

Thank you.
So much for my project. Maybe I can find another willing party. So far only RSS feeds available are for sports headlines not for sports scores. I could be like a mouse and update all that information manually but that would be lame!

EDIT: The above link is dead.
