You knows whats funny...I read the first post without looking to see who it was...first sentance and I was like whoa...what an ass... :P

Then I noticed who it was...I guess I was having a bad or just tired of programmer cynicism... :)

Anyways, old thread...boring...I've being reselling hosting to small/medium business for months now using a dedicated host from serverbeach. :)

Like anything in life, regardless of what anyone tells you or swears by, where there is a will there is a way. :)

The reason I asked this question wasn't so much because I seriously thought I would get a data center off the ground, but I am surprised by the lack thereof, locally anyways.

The city I live in is ideal:
- Employee salary are low
- Geographical location
- Resistent to natural disaster
- Plenty of new cutting edge buildings with environment control, security, etc
- One of the worlds most stable/cheap hydro facilities/networks, whatever

I just recently discovered the reason is because of the monopoly the local telco does everything it can to keep businesses out. :P Buggers.

Here's some thoughts (based on experience) on hosting companies, data centers, and so forth..
