The Good Client Thread

Post by supermike »

I guess you could say the "Judging Clients" thread is the negative client thread. So I'll start a good client thread.

* Repeat clients. I love repeat clients. Trust me, in this business it's not easy to satisfy clients and get them to come back again -- you have to work hard for it. However, when you get those repeat clients, it's a nice little income stream. And the stream involves upgrades on existing work, and often times starting whole other projects.

* Affiliate marketers. There are three varieties of AMers that I see: newbs who are jerks, experienced ones that should know better but still expect super-cheap prices, and experienced ones that still want it inexpensive as possible, but understand the reason for a higher price and are willing to pay for it. So, when I get the more seasoned and reasonable AMers, I love 'em. They keep coming back. They have lots of great project ideas. And often they don't want eCommerce or only want simplistic eCommerce such as with the BuyNow button. And why? It's because AMers make most of their income from the ad revenue. So, it means I can knock out a site much faster. I've met several AMers who do nothing but live comfortably off ad revenue, and some even have several employees working for them.

* Designers. Now, I do a sort of okay job with web design, but there are some people who easily blow me out of the water. I love these guys. They knock out work really fast and do an impressive job. They get my clients in a fantastic mood, ready to work with me. And working with designers is often reciprocal -- I send clients their way, and they send clients my way. Plus, it's like getting a job reference.

Supermike, along these lines of good clients, there are also oddball consulting firms and freelancers out there.

You might have a quizzical look on your face about what I mean by that unless you read this article I wrote on oddball web development companies:

http://volosystems.com/article.php?a=Ho ... ur+Clients

One of the largest takeaways from that article I think should be this:

don't go proposing solutions or throwing up management-speak, or dot-com-speak, before you've even heard what they're looking for

Now, that's probably not what you do, and not to get too far off on a tangent here, but I wanted to say that there are good clients and bad clients, and there are also oddball freelancers and consultants out there too.

I'm curious to know where one would find quality designers...you know those wicked web 2.0 designs that are simple and yet highly effective?

Hmmm...never heard of it...thanks I'll check itout. :)

EDIT | Hehe...I just realized its a single design studio you use. I thought there was maybe a forum similar to this where you can find hundreds of designers.
