Hi,

I need to present a budget over the next hours.

The client wants an online poker game (Texas Hold'em).

The main features are:
chat, notes, possibility of just watching the game, log, computer player.
Then we have user registration, tops, game settings, etc, etc.

My main question is about the budget value.

I was thinking this could take about 250/300 hours to develop.

$60*300 = $18.000

Anyone want to came up with a value.

Best Regards,

Are you doing the game building in Flash (or AJAX + jQuery), or someone else handling that?

Also, will this involve online gambling and is it legal in your country to be associated with this? For instance, in my country of USA, if I help build an online gambling site, I could potentially be snagged in, bogusly called one of the "ringleaders" of the online gambling operation, and made to build highways, office furniture, and license plates for several years.

Good thing your customer doesn't know about an inexpensive product out there called 'gamesitescript'. In fact, perhaps you could purchase that and customize it in order to maximize profit and consume less time?

If you and/or your client are located in an area which looks down upon online gambling (United States, especially), I'd say to turn the client down immediately.

That was a pretty vague estimate.

Personally I hate estimating, because to do it with any amount of accuracy requires extensive planning and decomposition of the problem at hand. The more finite you can make the problems the easier it is to estimate, but the longer it takes.
