It a very general question but I think that only a few of us knows about it.How to test a software testing tool?Consider you are testing winrunner tool.How to write testcases for this.

The same way you test any other software.. with expectations and assertions.

When I was at uni doing OOP and programming, we got told to draw up a test plan, with what we expect and actual results etc. But to also intentionally give data that would not be within the parameters of the program, to test error feedback.
