I'd like to know if anyone on this forum has used or is using Media Temple and what your thoughts are on it. Are they a good hosting service? Judging by their clientele, they seem to be pretty reliable. Their clients seem to be very high end, and I'm looking for a hosting service like that. How do they measure up against another company like slicehost.com (which I was looking into and considered it alternatively)?
If anyone has used their services before, please let me know how they are. Is there support good? Are they servers reliable? Do they have a good control panel for someone who's not so familiar with managing their own server?
I'm looking for a hosting services that allows me a lot of control over my server and is suitable for a high traffic website. Any comments about this company or if you have any suggestions on what hosting provider would be better, it would be very appreciated.
Thanks for reading.

I have a dedicated server with rapidswitch.com and find they are really good. There is minimal support but their pricing is good and I have never had any down time.
Re: (mt): Your thoughts.
I've used slicehost in the past and am currently using (mt)'s gridservice. (mt) is without a doubt the best web host I've ever used. Their support is amazing - quick to respond, clear, and helpful. I don't know how well suited their grid is for high traffic sites, but it's certainly reliable. It does go down from time to time for scheduled maintenance, but never without plenty of warning.
Their control panel is in-house (or they've done a heck of a job making it look like it was), and is one of the best I've seen. Very clearly laid out & simple.
Slicehost was a different experience & is suited for a different clientelle. All they gave me was a LAMP stack. I had to manually edit apache config files to set up my domains, manually install & set up my mail server & FTP server, etc. It's great for someone who wants complete control over their webserver & knows how to administer it. In my opinion, (mt) gives you more than enough control over how your server runs, without you needing to worry about the nitty gritty technical details.

@pickle: Sounds good. The only thing that concerns me though is the fact that (mt) goes down for maintenance. Why does it go down for maintenance and how offten? Does it only go down for the grid service or is it the same with the virtual dedicated? Is the virtual dedicated like slicehost in that I would need to do every thing myself?
I don't expect you to know everything about (mt). Maybe I should contact the company about all this. But I guess sense Adobe uses (mt)'s services, they must be pretty good.

Re: (mt): Your thoughts.
It's usually because a large company uses such a service that it is good. Large clients are much more profitable and thus you can spend more time developping a strong service that will benefit over time.
Small hosting companies have to support countless users asking over the phone how to change an email and they think they are important with their 6.99$/month service whilst just their call not speaking to anyone made the company lose profit
Anyway, getting away from the subject.

I'd say the (gs) goes down once every one or two months. They do it late at night & it's only for about 10 minutes. Since the (gs) is their "economy" package, I'd imagine their dedicated and nitro servers go down less often.
