E-Commerce selection

I hope this si the right forum to be posting in, it didn't seem to fit in the other categories.

Anyway, I have been developing web applications for years and many of them have been e-commerce sites. Due to the nature of my job I have always made things from scratch, or at least from old code, and very rarely use third-party applications.

I have decided to set up my own web-store though and really don't have time to be fannying about making some all singing all dancing e-commerce solution for myself. I just want something that's versatile and easy to use. What are everyone's favourites?

Ideally I want something that's easily skinnable.

I'm currently uploading Magento to see what that's like, but we'll see...

I always recommend Magento as a free e-commerce platform and Summer Cart as a paid one.

However the most important question is what is the most important in the platform for you? There are so many platforms out there just because of the different needs. The mainstream are X-Cart, Magento, OSCommerce/Creloaded/Zen Cart. But there are many others as well.

I've had nothing but trouble with Magento due to running <PHP 5.2. A lot of hassle to update due to running an older OS.

I'm trying our PrestaShop at the moment, seems ok, pretty versatile.
