IE8 and this forum TEXTAREA?

Post by alex.barylski »

Is it just me, or does IE8 really blow when typing long messages?

Everytime I'm on this forum (maybe others) under IE8 (on multiple computers) and I type a longer message, the textarea begins jumping my caret around the editing area and the scrollbars go bezerk...

Anyone else have this issue in IE8?

Because it's significantly faster in every Windows based operating system I have ever tried...?

I have tried to use firefox...believe me...many many times...it simply hasn't grown on me...I use it for development testing that is about it...or when I use Ubuntu -- which also hasn't grown on me due to it's sluggish behaviour.

Are you joking me? 8O

Three easy steps to show how insanely slow IE and how insanely fast Firefox is...

1.) Load my editor in Firefox 3 and IE8...
http://www.jabcreations.com/blog/?promp ... owerkeys=1

2.) Where it says 'Editor Options' choose advanced. That will show advanced options where the tips are/were.

3.) Check the option 'Enable Mouseover Event' and then simply move your mouse over the color pallet.

If you can't see the difference there then your perception is way out of whack!

By the way I had to add proprietary crap to the editor to get it to work for IE. IE8 still uses proprietary crap for JavaScript! I can only presume IE9 will mainly address this though.
