One-way Diffuse Material

Hello, world!

I'm working on a project, and It would be cool to have a material/setup that diffuses light one direction, but nicely conducts light the other way. Any of you intellectuals know of something that would do that?

Thanks

the concept of the two-way mirror should get you going - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Two-way_mirror

I saw that. I don't want it to reflect. Diffuse. Scatter. That type of thing. I realize that those are forms of reflection, but I don't want it to reflect smoothly. If light comes from one direction, it is scattered. If it comes from the other direction, it goes right through.

Depending on the type and concentration of the coating material you will get different diffusion patterns from full opacity to completely reflective. For example, what they use on cars - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Window_film

That look like almost what I'm looking for. Perhaps I'd better explain the application. I'm looking for something that would work as a rear-projection surface, that can be seen through from the projector side.
