East Anglia or Swansea?

Post by frankly »

Hi ppl,

I have just got an offer from University of East Anglia (MSc in Advanced Computer Science) and University of Wales Swansea (MSc in Computing and Software Technology). Just want to know how do you guyz think about it. I mean which one is better in computer science actually? Hope you can give me some advice really.

p.s. and my field of interest is in computer networking...everything related to the Internet

Thanz!! :D

But hey...Cambridge ranks very low too....should I trust this rank? Or..is it the reality that not famous schools are good in everything?

Famous schools aren't always best in every subject - it's good to have a look around at various uni guides before making a descision. Have you had a look at stuff like this (you shouldn't need to buy them just go down to Smiths and have a quick read of the bits you're intested in or maybe your college has some you can borrow):
"The Times" Good University Guide 2004
The " Guardian" University Guide: 2004
The Virgin Alternative Guide to British Universities 2003

Oh yes I should have thought of that
And hey...do you know about the costs of living in those places? Are they about the same or what? 8O

IMHO, it's likely to be cheaper to live in Swansea than Norwich. I've got a friend currently at Swansea and she seems to be having a ball and surviving on a typical student pitance.
