Quick Note About Job Opps

Post by volomike »

I just wanted to drop a quick note here that by using this forum I have picked up two job opps in excess of $1000 USD. I didn't find them -- they found me. Therefore, I wanted to thank the guys who made it, and wanted to say that when this forum is used properly and when you grow your skills through it, it can sometimes be very lucrative for you.

Glad to hear you are getting job offers! Devnet is a great networking tool, most definitely.

That's great. Indeed: it's all about knowing and being known. My own guess is that 99.5% of my own work is through referrals or people I know on forums like this

Indeed! Speaking of which, it was a fellow member here as well which referred me to my current employer of 3-4 years.

3 cheers for Devnet! :drunk:

.... back to work now ... *grumble grumble*

When I linked back to my site in my signature I'd get contacted once a day...95% were to low budget...but that was probably my fault for using the words 'cost effective' :P

It is a good networking tool though, for sure :)

And to boot...I get to talk to some of the smartest people I sort of know. :P

Like a year or two ago I put up a posting for a full time job on devnet and someone responded, we ultimately flew him out for a 1 week trial and ended up hiring him and paying his relocation costs to move across state lines, put him on salary, gave him a considerable loan to help start out life in a new location, etc... ( MY boss was the one to do it, I just posted the opening for her and looked over the resume )

Most of the business for my Magento plugin comes from the Magento forums

Okay, something is definitely up with DevNet. Perhaps they changed their settings such that Google's spider goes deeper, or perhaps Google added a spider that gets into phpBB systems like this one. I don't know. All I know is that more significant client leads are coming into my freelancing business via DevNet, and there are very interesting prospects here. I received another significant sales lead just today.
