Well I am posting this here as I don't know where to even start looking for something like this. I need to add a Mentor application to my forum much like this one
http://www.mentorscout.com/ However I am looking for an open source product. Anyone got any ideas or any leads as to where I could try and locate something like this

Word on the street says that detective Google is good at these kinds of things.

Word on the street is that I tried Google and did not find anything that I could use. If I had I probably would not be asking here. Then again maybe I am just challenged in using Google

Well, I'd help more if I could but your request is very vague and most of us would only actually investigate the link you have given if we were genuinely interested in the product. Personally, I was turned away from my first view of their home page, but that's the picky web-dev in me being critical of unattractive web design. Give us more details, and maybe we can be of further assistance.

Ok this is what I have so far. I have an SMF forum for my company now I need to add to this a mentioning program. It does not matter if it is not actually part of the SMF forum and runs as a separate application on the server. I gave the link as this was about the only reference I could find on a php application to set up a mentioning program.
What need to happen is the manager of an area will register himself/herself and select staff members from their department that they will be mentioning and uplifting into what they do. So they need to be able to setup programs (as in tasks) that they will be running each month with each selected staff member .

You said "mentioning" instead of "mentoring" this time... Was that intentional?
In any case, I don't know exactly what you would need for something like that. You want to be able to have a group of higher level users be able to schedule tasks that involve lower level users? For many of us on these forums, that would be any easy project. But as such, I don't know if there are any released freeware applications out there to do this.
SourceForge might be a good place to start looking though.

Sorry that was a typo I meant mentor. I did look at SourceForge but let me scratch around a bit more on the site.
