I noticed this at the bottom left-ish area of some frames in a Google IO 2008 video:

Looks like some kind of binary information, but what do you think it means; what's the pattern?

Dunno. My guess would be binary - it's actually a repeating pattern: 1011011010110000, which doesn't convert to anything meaningful in ASCII, and is 46768 in decimal.
Real programmers don't comment their code. If it was hard to write, it should be hard to understand.

It's not 1011011010110000, but 0100100101001111 (or 01001001 01001111).
01001001 = 73 = I
01001111 = 79 = O
