God is..

What would bridge the gap between the elusive God and todays science? If God was not a he or she but an it, a single element that was part of, and spanned, everything in the entire universe... energy.
If God is energy then things start to make a bit more sense than they do at the moment and things start to slot into place.
Think about it and it might make a bit more sense.

I don't really think that the energy idea shocks me all that much. I mean humans like to think that someone or something made this universe or at least this part of it especially for us. If someone wants to believe in a god/goddess/bob/whatever, they will adapt their theory to incorporate whatever evidence (or lack thereof in most cases) they happen to observe.
I overheard a photographer trying to convince a mathematician that aliens abduct people's minds but not their bodies. A brief part of the exchange went something like this:
P: So I think it really happens to people! Why else would so many people say that it happened to them? But I think that the aliens abduct their minds for examination, but give them the feeling of a physical abduction!
M: Okay, do you have any evidence?
P: No, but that proves my point exactly!
You believe what you want to believe and make up something to support it. Myself? So glad that you asked. Bob keeps me on the not-so-straight-and-narrow.
By the way, Gen-ik: nice eyes. Photoshop-ed (my guess) or red light with contacts (earns more points)?

After years of being told one way, humans tend to ride along that line for the rest of their life. ie: religion. I was never taught any form of religion, but I have been given the gift to figure it out by myself, and therefore become athiest.
Every religion (being it believability in a god(s) or not) has it's rights and it's wrongs. I've been through the old "I'm going to change people's minds, because my way is the best way." for a year, and finally realized that the so-called 'brain washing' of religion these days will not break through people's minds.
I beleive what I wish, and highly respect anyone who keeps their religion (if any) to their self. Practicing one's religion need not have the amount of money, nor any friendship/believeability.
So, I say to all of you: Keep your religious thoughts/feelings to yourself, because this "I hate god. He/She's fake!" and "God helped me get through it." merely irritates people. But you have to love this one person who fell off a cliff of rocks (80 feet down), smashed his face inside out, and later said "God was right there with me when I fell."

Well said. Believe it or not I really do try not to talk religion (spirituality, whatever) (or politics for that matter), because people
just don't agree on one thing or another as a fact. Hence the term,"belief system."

Religion is one of the most unagreeable subjects and people end up getting upset and angry. Strange how some things affect people this way!
I recomend not even going there

I think that we can not imagine such a beeing and describe it into detail, understand it make a picture of it.
so what's god?
What we do is searching for someone who kind of gives sense to life and helps out and stuff - that imagined person we call God. God is a very good invention as long as you handle it right: eg. pray and live respecting rules AND NOT eg. start wars in the name of God (because that is a missuse!)
Also everything we can't explain with the help of our limited knowledge we talk of God's actions. Questions that probebly never will be given an answer are eg.
How was the universe created?
Why am I just the one I am and see my whole life from "my" point of view?
(and a lot more)
all that is confusing and before I get crazy i better stop
greets

Speaking of how the universe got created, did anyone else see the article in the latest National Geographic about the traces that they found bringing evidence to the theory of that the big bang rapidly inflated? Crazy, that... It talked about some interesting things in there, like the possibility of a multiverse and why.
Such a geek: I love this stuff.

I would say what's on my mind but I don't want to be judged harshly in the after-life.
