Hi,

Today our company decided to ban a few programs due to security.

The only program I've noticed so far is Winamp.

Why the heck would you ban that program?

Now I'm forced to use the crappy W$ media player.

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&safe ... f&oq=&aqi=

Results 1 - 10 of about 13,200 for winamp security flaw.

I like the new pandora desktop player more than any media player. Its not full featured but its the only one I know of that uses AI to find me new artists  and it can run in any web browser

The vulnerability could be exploited when a Winamp user visits a malicious Web site and a tainted media file is launched onto the person's system. A buffer overflow is triggered, which allows the attacker to take control of the computer without being constrained by security measures, Kristensen noted.

"We aren't aware of any systems that have been compromised yet, but it's likely to happen since there's exploit code out," Kristensen said.
Bah ... Not that worrying imo.

I'll take a look at pandora though. :)

Xion is a relatively new, but fully capable and extremely lightweight player. The only reason I mention it is because it has the ability to run without being installed - which could be useful depending on the restrictions you work under.
