Google DNS

Post by volomike »

Just wanted to say for you web developers looking for speed -- Google DNS screams. Google has now gotten into the free DNS business. I was previously on OpenDNS but Google DNS is a heck of a lot faster. The servers are:

8.8.8.8
8.8.4.4

Might speed up your productivity a little. And it's made slow websites download faster too.

I'm still not convinced I should use them - they said no personal info will be recorded or used in any other way, but I do not believe this ...
There are 10 types of people in this world, those who understand binary and those who don't

For many people it may be slower. I use comcast and I get a faster response from them:

$dig @8.8.8.8 google.com
;;Query time: 74 msec

dig @68.87.85.98 google.com
;; Query time: 60 msec
