Would like to work toward a PHP5 certification. Suggestions?

Hello,
I'm new to this forum. I actually have a 30+ year background in RPG development on IBM midrange systems (now iSeries). We would like to move into the 20th century (lol) and start developing web applications on the iSeries for our users. I've looked into it, and it appears that PHP is an excellent way of getting there.
Anyway, I have added PHP5 Certification to my "SMART Goals" for 2010, but I don't know the first thing about where to begin. Obviously, I have to start at the beginning and work my way through everything I would need to know to become certified.
So, I'm looking for some suggestions on the best way to learn the language. Is there a single site that might have an extensive course from A to Z, or perhaps are books better? Any suggestions would be very helpful.
Thanks!
Chris
