I am building a CMS and I need some templates/themes to include so clients can see visually what is possible. I do not have the skill to design anything much fancier than a basic design, so I was thinking of hijacking a bunch of free/OSS templates, especially the WordPress variety (as the designs are always clean and well done).
If a WordPress template is open source (or any template for that matter), I can according to ([L]GPL anyway?) license remove the 'Powered By WordPress' footer notes? I would keep the copyright (if any) but the pages will be powered by a different CMS, not WordPress, so I assume this is probalby legally required anyway.
Second question, and perhaps most importantly. Does anyone know of any template/theme directories, for WordPress, which are free to use in any application, whether commercial, open source, hosted, etc?
I have Googled and compiled a small list of directories, but all are quite vague in whether I can reuse them in my CMS commercially, etc.
Cheers,
Alex
