Any advice for a developer that is tired of corporate life and wishes to become totally independant of such and not starve? Would prefer to work on remote projects at home and not starve. It is either that or become a greeter at Walmart...I really want out that bad!!!!!

Umm well i would build up a bit of a safety net in the bank before i would do anything and have a look around at what freelance work you could do if you left your job.
I know theres a few coder auction type things - where programmers can place bids on projects. Maybe you would like to do something like this. Start your own company maybe - get a few people on board and maybe start your own development company.
Or maybe you wish to leave the computer side of life behind and move onto a different type of work altogether. Why not visit your local job center (do you have those in america?) and see what sort of other work is available. Also seek some professional carears advice before you do anything rash.
