Your going to get two different replies. One from the camp who took the test and say it helped them land a client, get a job, etc. The other camp, who are not interrested in taking the exam and therefore obviously do not feel it to be beneftial.

I am in the latter, whereas others are in the former. I think what it boils down to is personal choice. If you feel it will increase your confidence, it probably would work better for you than not.

I don't think anyone is going to say 'Passing the Zend exam ruinded my chances at getting a job' -- what is what your really asking I think. :P

Cheers,
Alex

Its worth something, sure. How much no one can say, unless you mean cost to take the test, in which case it's pretty constant I would think.

Cheers,
Alex

If you ask me, as an employer, if I see added benefit to including the Zend Certification? My answer is no. All the Zend Certification tells me is you are competant. From what I've seen on the tests, nobody should fail them :P

But it certainly won't hurt your chances..

I would say go for it if you lack experience and/or are new to the industry. IMO, experience speaks far louder than some gimmicky certification.

It depends. If you are talking about the Zend Framework certification, then as an employer it would make me more at ease to rely on your knowledge with the framework. But that's because we develop applications with the ZF. As others said, your mileage will vary.

I took the test back in the day, when I was working freelance (it was a requirement by an employer and he covered the fee). At first I though it was going to be a cakewalk but it was more challenging than I thought (still relatively easy if you know the framework well).

I liked that they had obscure questions that can be answered just by being familiar with the patterns and coding standards of the framework without being familiar with specific components. Someone carrying a ZF certification will definitely have a leg up applying at our firm.

I will certainly have to read up on the ZF certification, but the fact the certification has a specific focus makes it more appealing than a general certification.

It would certainly weed out the many people that claim to have used it, and I can appreciate that when looking for something as specific as ZF experience.
