USA - Can was good, Fin - Swe wasn't
Re: Go Canada Go
I think Finland looked good vs Belarus and I think they can go far, but the game vs Sweden worries me a bit. Norway has been a nice suprise though and Slovakia.kaisellgren wrote:USA - Can was good, Fin - Swe wasn't

Yeah, it's typical hockey, Finland performs better against Belarus then Sweden, but then against Sweden they lose.papa wrote:I think Finland looked good vs Belarus and I think they can go far, but the game vs Sweden worries me a bit. It's quite interesting that USA kicked some butt last night, for me Canada was one of the ones who fight in the finals, but I'm not so sure anymore.
Re: Go Canada Go
I wished I could have seen Canada - USA last night. I didn't think USA looked that good in their first game, but the sure have the potential. But the teams get better and better as the tournament progress. Russia's defence didn't look good at all at first, but they're getting dangerously good.kaisellgren wrote:Yeah, it's typical hockey, Finland performs better against Belarus then Sweden, but then against Sweden they lose.papa wrote:I think Finland looked good vs Belarus and I think they can go far, but the game vs Sweden worries me a bit. Currently top teams are (in this order):

Btw, do you happen to know any online streams? Due to timezone difference, the matches begin 10pm / 2am / 5am / 7am here so it's impossible to watch from the TV in the army during weekdays, but I can find a way to use my laptop...http://www.vancouver2010.com/olympic-hockey/schedule-and-results/men_ihm400000vpreliminary-Vj.html wrote:1D United States

Re: Go Canada Go
Last nights loss was brutal but I don't think it was a critical game, so hopefully that serves as a wake up call for Canada and perhaps more importantly to pull Broduer from goal and put luongo in net.
Cheers,
Alex

Re: Go Canada Go
Luongo is going in next next, Brodeur had many opportunities so far to carry the team and hasn't performed as expected. Considering we outshot the USA I think it was like 40-23, and USA scored 3 goals within 15 shots, Brodeur just can't be excused.PCSpectra wrote:Last nights loss was brutal but I don't think it was a critical game, so hopefully that serves as a wake up call for Canada and perhaps more importantly to pull Broduer from goal and put luongo in net.

Reguardless, Canada certainly needed the wake up call... it's like we've (they've) gotten too cocky

I've had a few of my american friends rub it in my face over and over... all I say is we will see you in the finals (if you make it there).

Re: Go Canada Go
I've heard some people complain that Brodeur played because of experience and having won Gold in 2002. Now he's older and clearly incapable of playing as well as younger goal tenders, I guess.Luongo is going in next next, Brodeur had many opportunities so far to carry the team and hasn't performed as expected. Reguardless, Canada certainly needed the wake up call... it's like we've (they've) gotten too cocky I'll be hard pressed to find them lose like that again though.
Miller was excellent though, I have never even paid much attention to him, but I will now. I would like to see Crosby win the gold though, that guys is in line to be the next great one, IMO.
I'm not sure if the team is cocky, Canada has not held the 'win everytime' position in hockey for decades. I think they/we are favoured to win usually, but favoured and absolutely are not the same. Each of the five top teams have great players that will give each a little 'cocky'.
Cheers,
Alex

I was just teasing Alex a little for his pom pom waving!John Cartwright wrote:I knew I was going to take some heat for that one
That's too bad ... the 8000 gorilla to your south should be nicer to you Canucks. You have put on a great Winter Games and the US is doing better than expected. We should follow our northern neighbors example and learn to be a little more polite.John Cartwright wrote:I've had a few of my american friends rub it in my face over and over... all I say is we will see you in the finals (if you make it there).
And yes ... we will see you in the finals hopefully.

What a bomb! Sweden - Slovakia (3-4).
Russia was not as good as I expected. Now it's pretty sure that we will see Canada in the finals... unless Slovakia has something up their sleeves

Re: Go Canada Go
They should have played with higher tempo and tire Slovakia out. They were already tired after the Norway game yesterday...kaisellgren wrote:What a bomb! Sweden - Slovakia (3-4).

Pretty disapointed I must say.
