If you're a skilled programmer you can pick up more languages quicker and add to your CV.
Also things like JQuery, Ajax, JS, CSS etc is something that you always will have use for when developing for web. So make sure you have a pretty wide range of skills and not only PHP / MySQL.
Papa couldnt be more right on this. I got my job with a working (and very much growing) knowledge of html/css/php ... and I've been working only a few months and am already looking for some more qualifications - starting with some javascript.
On top of this getting to know some of the CMS that are widely used can be an advantage. As a developer I expected to be building from the ground up and so far haven't had to as most clients want to intergrate with a blog or forums or one of the many aspects of a CMS like joomla / wordpress. And I'm having to learn these. Making sure you word things right on you CV helps to, being 'familiar with' and 'have worked with' and 'experienced with' are all just different levels of saying 'I'm learning this ...' (trust me I had to write a CV for my uni course haha!) and you never ever stop learning!
Try and get familiar with more than just php though. For example, html is very good at static, when it comes to dynamic its just the glue that holds most of the php in place. Every time you hit a language you're unsure of, go and have a go at learning it! I did this about a month ago when I had issues with XML because I didn't know much about it - now I can actually use and understand it, which makes me just that much better than I was!
It is true that PHP Jobs have a lower value as compared to other languages, but if you do not have any other option like, you are not getting a job in java/Dot Net, then it is better to stick to PHP. Also there is lot of new Enhancements/Extension being developed in PHP. You can learn a lot of new things. Once you are experienced in web development, you can easily shift to other technologies.
