Ode to Mozilla Firebird

I finally got around to properly trying out Moz Firebird a week or so ago and basically IE has been banished unless needed for testing sites compatibility or checking Google pageranks. I've got the web developer toolbar which is fantastic for picking up missing ALT tags, quickly checking the site in different resolutions and running validation (e.g. W3C CSS validation). Plus animated gifs now only loop once (something I could never get IE to do properly) and I haven't seen an unwanted popup yet. I also don't know what I ever did without tabbed browsing (saving tabs sets is fantastic).

Anyone who hasn't tried it really should, Moz Firebird is the mutts nuts.

Mozilla is one of the reasons why I don't like Open Source.

Well, mozilla is too good than IE (sigh !). For make design, you musn't use <table> just <div>. In my view, it's too funny !
With Firbird, you saw immediatly where there are an error.
But for XML, when you load for the first time the page they are a few errors.

Erg :/
For me, it's too difficult to explain this error :/
I try ;)
When you load for the first time a xml file, they are a 'superposition' (<= word in french) of text.
For example :

Possibly a simple XSL template linked to the XML would remove the error?

My machine is posessed.

I recompile Mozilla LAST WEEK, use it for a bit, try to use it last night. All I get is a message box that says "Alert". Try again, and I get a 2cm x 2cm mozilla window containing (in soothing red text):

Code: Select all

<window
^
Obviously the xml layout engine is fubar.

Firebird seems to think it's okay to greedily allocate 70-90 megs of memory, and then refuse to return it after it's been killed.

Like I said, my machine is posessed.

Perssonally i use the plain mozilla and have not had much (if any) issues, it may be a bit slowish tho so i may give firebird a shot. Can firebird import mozilla's bookmarks? (i hope so)

I prefer Galeon 2, which is based on the Mozilla engine, but doesn't use XUL, so is much faster. I am very happy with it. It handles media files, such as video's and what not easily. It's just a really nice, simple browser that does it's job.

Galeon 2 is good as Mozilla. But for XUL, I think, it's for a futur (?) version.
Good Bye,
Weber

@newton : thanks :)

That's default. After installing Mozilla or Firebird IE-bookmarks automatically show up in your bookmarks under "Imported IE Favorites".

Firebird = beauty, beauty, beauty. I wholeheartedly second what Twigs wrote about it :)
