Post by devarishi »

Hi,

It's rther frustrting. Lst night I ws working on my PC nd writing posts on this forum. ll of sudden the key stops functioning. No, it didn't print which key I ment. Guess, the letter which comes before b in lphbets, nd before s on the stndrd keybord. But then I found tht keys: Esc, Tild, Number 1 (on the top 2nd row), kyoo (pronounce it to know wht I men), & the lst letter of lphbet re not functioning. :( Oopps... tb key is lso not functioning. Why? :( :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

I remember I ws typing something here on this forum & then they stopped working. I m tired of using the On-Screen Keybord for typing my pssword nd user nme.

Wht could be wrong? The other keys re working fine.

Do I need to buy new keybord now? The wrrnty is expired lredy. :banghead:

OKy, it is :offtopic: I know we re not hrdwre guys here. But is there ny?

Try prying the "A" key off and seeing if there's any crud in there. If it's clean and still doesn't work, then it's probably time for a new keyboard. I personally recommend the Microsoft Comfort Curve 2000. :)

Well, I will pry the keys & see if the keybord will work then. Otherwise I will get nother one. :banghead:

Get a new keyboard. The key signals are wired in a matrix that identifies which key was pressed, and it sounds like one of the matrix drivers quit working, making a group of keys inoperable.

I have a laptop that I used to cart around in a bicycle trailer on a rough road. It was still usable after the modem stopped working and colorful columns of pixels started appearing on the screen, but I finally had to retire it as a portable computer when a number of keys stopped working. As a PHP programmer, it was rather unfortunate to lose the up arrow and the ability to type any of these characters: 0)-_pP[{;:/?
