With reference to the above quote from that article, a problem - and I'd be happy to hear that I am mistaken - is that free alternatives don't support the full gamut of features. For example, Foxit's freebie is good but editable forms don't seem to be fully supported and one has to revert to Adobe.

I'd love to hear of an open source (or at least freeware) offering that comes complete with the whole PDF shooting match.
