SXGA vs WXGA resolution

I have just been given a WXGA resolution laptop (1366x768), which shows 15 less lines of code than my home laptop (SXGA 1280x1024). Ever since the Widescreen Revolution, laptop resolutions have stepped back a generation (previously XGA) and allowed manufacturers to pack less pixels on the screen than before (go ahead, multiply the dimensions).

Does anybody actually prefer WXGA to SXGA? Most modern laptops use the former, and development (and websurfing) suffers for it for me. Web sites are column-based and I don't see what benefit widescreen has for web development.

As far as development goes, I also find it difficult to work with wide-screen laptops. Which is why I use multiple monitors for development. :D

Yah you should see my workdesk; I have a laptop with a widescreen that is too short in height, then a second monitor turned 90 degrees that is too long.
