I don't like either, but Drupal is much better IMO.
But after all, the thing that matters is what do you need? There is no one size that fits all ;)

Drupal is programmer friendly and joomla is designer friendly. Learning joomla at starting looks quiet complex and later you can enjoy it. If you love coding, then Drupal is almost welcome. Joomla or Drupal, it depends on the developer's choice again.

Neither, actually. :)

I've always been a big fan of WordPress as a CMS.

The problem I have with Joomla is that the backend is just plain ugly and confusing. A typical 'designed-by-a-programmer' interface. No offense to all programmers out there who I just offended! ;)
It might have many features, but I wouldn't dare to build a website with it and have a client work with it. At least with Wordpress, the backend looks a lot less confusing and friendlier to use. I can also remove options so the client only sees the most important features.
