Product Suggestion -- Client File Sharing

Post by volomike »

As a PHP freelancer, a lot of times I get a client request where they want a portfolio site. And, on your typical portfolio site, they want a client login. Once logged in, they want to see only their project folders, which may also have subfolders. They can see files shared by the designer, as well as files they upload. Some may even have a project notes area, or a task list. All of this takes place in a web browser, without needing to install additional tools.

Can you recommend a product I can purchase and install for this? Or, what about a service my client can subscribe with?

I think Adobe has something similar to this but I'm not sure if it's client specific but it may be worth looking into: http://www.acrobat.com/sendnow/en/features.html

Drupal is a good candidate albeit a wee complex to setup and configure as such.

Alternatively you may wish to Google project management tools, look into 37Signals offerings. These products range from simple task managers to full blown project planning. I would try and establish all the features in point form it will make deciding which tool is right for you much easier. :)

Cheers,

http://www.egnyte.com/corp/business_pla ... icing.html Might also do the trick for you for a cheap monthly fee. It's drop dead simple. I hate that I'm recommending this product twice in a day but it really is useful and it's what we use it for. Also good for internal company sharing.
