He's got a pretty good chance if the election actually happens. I think the "no on recall" numbers are rising, though, and I'm glad for that.

The only reason the no on recall numbers are going up because this thing has turned into a circus. Grey Davis has done an awful job, and he deserves to be replaced. He has taken money from suspicious sources and created a deficeit so huge that we will be taxed heavily no matter who is in office to get out of. Even after a hiring freeze Davis added tons of more positions. He thinks that by signing the Illegal Aliens bill that he will get the Mexican vote. The only thing Davis cares about is himself and keeping his status.
Career politicians are bad because they forget the true meaning about what they are supposed to do. I wish all of politics could be revamped to where we didn't have power hungry, only out for themselves people in those positions.

I agree, he does deserve to get replaced. But I think he deserves to get replaced in a regularly scheduled ELECTION. There's simply no call for this. He hasn't done a single specific thing that's actually grounds for a recall, but the rather arcane laws of the state permit it. If Gray Davis can be arbitrarily recalled under these circumstances, the President should have been in hot water long ago.

Davis has done a horrible job, he's as corrupt as they come.
The recall option has always been in effect for california but never even come close to being seen through. This is true democracy.
Democrats, Repubs, Indies all want this guy gone. The people's vote finally counts for something.
I'm sending my vote to arnie because I believe cruz is just as corrupt as davis. so with me and my lady thats 2 votes for arnie there.

Arnie would be a great govenor. He could just kick anyones ass who got in his way. But seriously he has some pretty good policies and has a better idea of what has to be done than any other politician i've seen

Can someone explain 'no on recall' for a european? Never heard that expression, but we of course follow the circus over there in the news and on the tv.
Wasn't there btw a pornstar also involved in trying to be a govenor? Or just rumours?

I think Arnold S. stands an excellent chance of winning the election.
It will still take some long time to straighten out the absurd mess that
has been made in California. Glad I do not live there....

As many jokes as we can find on this topic, the simple fact remains: this is democracy in the works. How many nations would NOT be able to do something like this. Having spoken with people from non-democratic nations, they usually say that we just don't know how lucky we really are.

But isn't the point of democracy, that if your representative is doing a bad job you can change them? You don't have to wait until their term is up because who knows what damage they could do in the meantime. If the people who are being represented by this guy feel that he should no longer remain in his position, then forcing an election (through an effective vote of no-confidence) is surely as Jason says, democracy in the works?

I totally agree, with that we are lucky to have these types of governments. We have something similiar to UK, where we choose parties instead of people.
Wasn't meant in a bad way, just continuing with what I thought was the regular thoughts of alot of people, most of them actually US citizens.
Talking about the rest of the unlucky world is both of topic, and something that I dont feel competent enought to talk about. True or not.

"This is true democracy."
Really? That's very sad. Apparently "true democracy" is an election bought with 1.6 million dollars in private investment, NOT requiring an actual mandate of the majority to pass.
It doesn't matter if you like Davis or not. I just wish people would start to think about the terrible precedent this sets for our government, following on the terrible precedent of the 2000 presidential election. I think the whole thing's very dangerous and very sad.

Unipus somehow I think you'd have a different view if the political parties were reversed... but thats just a guess
this is definately what democracy is all about. over a million people signed their names of their own free will(including myself) to show their disapproval of the current system.
it doesn't get any better than this.
