Seems that user avatars are missing on this site when viewing posts.
mysql_function(): WARNING: This extension is deprecated as of PHP 5.5.0, and will be removed in the future. Instead, the MySQLi or PDO_MySQLextension should be used. See also MySQL: choosing an API guide and related FAQ for more information.

Well this is certainly a bizarre issue. The file processing avatars was calling a function that exists in a file that was not being included. It never should have worked in the first place -- and has never been modified before either.
