Why do ppl send Spam!!? Why do ppl do DDOS!!!?

Post by Cruzado_Mainfrm »

i wonder why STUPID people, because they are stupid, lose their lives, sending STUPID e-mails with DUMB content?
Why do you send DDOS for? to make news? you suck, go throw yourself from the bridge and you'll be in the news right away, and in history!
Does it make you feel important?
Because of ppl like you there are wars and starvation!
Put yourself in their position, don't say is not your problem, maybe http://www.ihelpchildrens.com couldn't receive e-mails from the people sending money because of you sending your stupid spam.
You don't have a life! You don't!

They should make a new mail protocol, highly secure, so secure nobody can send e-mails to everybody, the SMTP should bounce them back when receiving multiple e-mailes with the same subject at a high speed, eveybody has to accept e-mails everytime they come, and there cannot be anonimity :D, u cannot send an e-mail without a corresponding "address".

Nice idea, but thats just not the way the internet works. Anti-spam filters have the ability to block multiple e-mails from the same address (I believe).

In answer to your first question, they do it for the same reason that they damage public property, such as phone boxes. Because it makes them feel big. No amount of telling them that they are the scum of the earth will make them believe it, so just accept that this type of thing happens. Of course, if you managed to find such a person, I wouldn't hold you responsible for making them eat their modem...

On one of the win32 computers I have, I use Outlook, with an addon that filters spam rather well. http://www.giantcompany.com/

For other os's there are of course other solutions.

Spam wasn't an issue back in the day...you see SMTP was designed for, and when, there was only a few hundred people on the ARPAnet; the creator of SMTP even said there needs to be a change...

It might come in the next few years hopefully.

...and if it was encrypted by default that would be a huge plus. ;)

it will be hard to make such a protocol that highly secure, e-mails should be check whether they exist

i got an idea, when an user registers a new e-mail that user gets a private key, he has to add that key to the header of the e-mail encrypted with the public key of the server, then the server reveals the private key when decrypting it with the public key, if matches access granted...
a few more steps would be added to grant the access

What does it cost to send email? What are the potential returns if only 1 in a hundred thousand respond? Answer: spam.

Some good thoughts here. Same could be said for Telemarketers.
Why do they persist? I think no intellgent person would buy. But their economic model must be valid enough that their are quite enough stupid people out there that buy into it - the world is full of imbeciles. Modern culture has in ways created reverse evolution...

Spammers, telemarketers - these are ignorant people that have no skills or talents and are too lazy to learn any....

On a related note - those that write viruses - they must be fairly intelligent to do so. Why? I would suggest that they are mentally disturbed sociopaths. If caught - mandatory jailtime, perferably in a cell with someone called bubba that weighs 300 pounds and thinks that they are "cute"....'nuf said.

I agree that Spam does become a pain in the rear (especially if you have multiple email accounts) and there should be a global law against it. But saying "Because of ppl like you there are wars and starvation!" is a bit dramatic!

Most of the spam is sent out by apps that gather (or harvest) emails addresses from the web (which is pretty easy to do) and then send out a prewritten email to anyone and everyone it can.

Another problem I've noticed is that most of the same emails now come from 'random numbers' instead of fixed email addresses which is going to make filtering them out a bit hard.

Is it possible to 'ping' an email address the same way you can a server? If it's possible then why not create an anti-spam filter that can 'ping' the senders email address to make sure it's valid.

You can track them down but it takes resources and hardware access, and will in most cases give you zip as a good (!?) spammer likely takes precaution not to give away any of his/her own identity.

For IE users, mighty Bill G. is taking a step towards this, so perhaps in future versions of MS products there are intence protection regarding this.

Symantec, Kaspersky, F and some others (a rumour, dont hold it against me) have been talking about making a global countermeasure-system against spam, so I've heard. Neat, worlds top virus-protection creators working together agains spam. That ought to show some good results...

And of course, Mozilla's different browsers (using Thunderbird email client myself) has junk rules that kicks lhamas. Not one good mail mistaken of 400+ and counting...
