Hi.

I'm very new to PHP but i've made some scripts in Game Maker if any of you have ever seen or used it.

I met a girl online named sephie which helped me to learn how to execute php files on my own computer using XAMPP.
I'm reading the tutorials at http://www.w3schools.com/

I would hopefully like to meet anyone experienced in PHP or other programming.
I would like to be able to chat with the person on msn or yahoo.
This would make things allot easier for me because I would be able to ask for advice.

If anyone would like to be a chat buddy with me online i would like that.

Stop doing this. Apparently w3schools aren't all that clued up.

Create scripts and post any problems (or questions for that matter) you might encounter here, the forum have load of members that will be able to assist with solving the problems.

He means that specifically in reference to w3schools :)

One of the best things to do in my opinion (and experience) is to find an open-source project and join it. You'll learn a humongous amount from the other developers working on it. You get learning and experience, and they get help in return.

A few books off Amazon will save you a few years in time trying to figure out everything yourself online.

lol, yes, skip w3schools but continue to quench your thirst for knowledge at other wells, like this forum (and books, nothing beats learning from a book).

I read very few books in my early years. I would say forums have been by far the most valuable resource.

Good point, forums offer a broader range of input from a much larger pool of potential information. I started vice-versa if you will, read lots of books and then ventured into the world of forums.
