IE is still in the first generation of browsers, to get to the next generation they will have to add tabs to the internet explorer, but to do that, they will have to redo the shell of windows, because the internet explorer is thought to work in pair with the os shell of windows.

What I'd like to know is how come an organisation which earns $100 gazillion per year can't be cutting edge? A modest part of my income comes from installing (depressingly regular) MS security patches on an office network. I keep suggesting a switch to better software but no: my client - like most of the world - is blindly focussed on MS.
i don't like netscape, because it has too many incopatibilities with todays techology, mozilla has tabs and more stuff, but i'd rather use NetCaptor which has many other options and as many years of developing as mozilla.
I definitely agree that the world should have its fair share of IE users, it keeps thousands of tech support people employed. Why does Outlook have so many issues and allow so many viruses to auto-run? IE! What a great invention for anti-Microsoft marketing...
Definitely a Firebird fan... It runs well, runs fast and has some great extentions (cheers to whoever made Blockfall, by the way!).
I think Firebird already meets that requirement. Also, if you search Linux.org's distribution list for the mainstream/public distributions you can find quite a few variations that will easily install (dual boot, just in case you need your computer to crash for some reason) and get KDE, Gnome, whichever you like running for you.
