Firebird is free and has lots of useful extensions for web developers.

myie2.com also has tabs and popup stoppers etc

easily the best of the 'built from the ie code' browsers is iRider.com though - worth checking out the 28 day loaner just to see some of the features there.

Am a mozboy myself ;)

if you really want to part with cash for a browser I urge you to also try http://www.iRider.com (one I'd almost pay for)

And still, all these IE browsers are all what, 2 years behind the other browser makers?

IE is still in the first generation of browsers, to get to the next generation they will have to add tabs to the internet explorer, but to do that, they will have to redo the shell of windows, because the internet explorer is thought to work in pair with the os shell of windows.

EDIT: someone said this in http://www.netcaptor.com but wasn't a member of netcaptor

What I'd like to know is how come an organisation which earns $100 gazillion per year can't be cutting edge? A modest part of my income comes from installing (depressingly regular) MS security patches on an office network. I keep suggesting a switch to better software but no: my client - like most of the world - is blindly focussed on MS.

Darwin got it all wrong.

i don't like netscape, because it has too many incopatibilities with todays techology, mozilla has tabs and more stuff, but i'd rather use NetCaptor which has many other options and as many years of developing as mozilla.

My problem with IE, and all IE based browser, is that it's still based on years old technology. And it's stifling the net.

Furthermore, IE isn't the most use browser because of it's quality. It's the most used browser because Windows is the most used OS.

Thirdly, start times don't matter when your browser doesn't crash. =)

Hey, I have nothing wrong with IE users. Of course, I also don't have anything wrong with handicapped people. =) (hehe)

I definitely agree that the world should have its fair share of IE users, it keeps thousands of tech support people employed. Why does Outlook have so many issues and allow so many viruses to auto-run? IE! What a great invention for anti-Microsoft marketing...

Definitely a Firebird fan... It runs well, runs fast and has some great extentions (cheers to whoever made Blockfall, by the way!).

Firebird fan also, but only since I saw someone else here on this board advertising it in their sig.

Been running it for a couple of weeks only, and allready love it. Mostly due to the long list of extensions you can load into it (not Blockfall tho ;) ).

I guess once linux (and firebird) starts to get user-friendly, then I'll start to use them more and more. ;)

I think Firebird already meets that requirement. Also, if you search Linux.org's distribution list for the mainstream/public distributions you can find quite a few variations that will easily install (dual boot, just in case you need your computer to crash for some reason) and get KDE, Gnome, whichever you like running for you.
