PC hardware compatibility

Post by egg82 »

I've been looking for a new PC (mine's from 2003) and decided to build my own. I found some good hardware for a good price (about $350 with 3-day s/h + tax)
I also looked at the compatibility of all the hardware. Unfortunately, i'm not an expert with hardware and the specs shown weren't the greatest.
Anyway, this is what i've got. If i'm missing something or something's wrong, I would be grateful if you let me know.

Oh- I have put a computer together before, and i'm using my computer for general all-purpose use (home and small server)

Looks like you have everything, what are you going to use it for?

I would most certainly get more than 4GB of RAM considering how cheap it is. 4GB barely covers day-to-day usage after OS processes and a couple programs. Plus, you can't benefit from creating memory drives with extra ram to greatly boost your OS performance (considering your not using SSD this is almost a must in my books).

Everything else looks good... I even ran that processor in my old computer ;)

I just bought 16GB RAM for $130, clocked at 1600mhz. Can't beat that.

heh, compared to what i'm running now (900MB RAM with a 1.8 GHz core) it's amazingly fast.

I like the 32-bit systems better, and 32 will only handle 4GB anyway, so...
