[not php] laptop display messed up :(

Post by qads »

well, i hope someone might know about this one, i just brought a nice laptop from ecost.com

http://www.ecost.com/ecost/shop/detail.asp?dpno=273420

not the best..i know, but thats all i can afford :P

anyways, it was working nicely, and now if i leave it on for about 30 - 60 mins, the display gets screwed up, all i see is like untuned TV channel 8O , at first i thought it was over heating, but nope, left it in open, with air vents getting alots of air, it did the same thing :/...its hard to take a screen shot cos..well..i have to restart it everytime, it crashs, after the restart all it does is BEEP BEEP BEEP after every 5 secs then i have to turn it off agian and leave it alone for few mins then its fine..untill it does the same thing....i would like to smash it into pieces but i spent hard earned cash on it

so...anyone have any ideas? i *AM* going to call tech support, just can't find their number :x

thanks guys

You dont mention if its the screen per se, or the desktop that gets garbled like a tv-channel.

My first thought was that you came across an object with a malfunctioning battery. Beeps to warn you, a display that needs more power than it can get (might result in a crash if th cpu or other parts doesn't get enough voltage either).

If so, tried running directly using a cord?

it was shipped to me from US, i am in UK, wonder if i have to send it back to US for repires or they can do it over here :?

My guess is that they have a deal with IBM, and that means that you probably will be able to use IBM in the UK. We can only hope.

buy some solid ice(i dunno if that's the name) or the stuff that they use to put monitors(like huge popcorns), you can get those in stores where they sell comps or fragile materials

beat up the enviroment a bit and put the laptop in a platic bag before you place in the box with the stirofoam stuff.
Then if IBM sends it back to you in just the stuffing you can at least blame them agian for messing up your computer.
