Actually, not necessarily. We'd look to see if it was producing water. If it was, we'd taste the water to see if it was salty. If it was salty that meant it was a leak, so then we'd worry. Or we would if it was a big one. Otherwise, not so much. Damn ship was twenty years old, after all.Hey, if you were still on your old sub and you heard a new sound, you'd sure find out where it was coming from before the next dive, wouldn't you?!

Remarking on the old days got me thinking, so I applied the old submarine "there's no machinist's mate handy" fix and gave it a good solid whack on top with my fist. That seems to have taken care of the problem. The Navy trained us well.
