As if I don't have enough to do, I've offered to put together a more comprehensive website for the Fantasy Baseball League myself and my friends run.
We actually have our own league each year using the Yahoo! Fantasy Leagues pages, but for the last few years we've drafted via e-mail (including banter), while I've logged picks in an SQL database so that everyone can see who has been drafted, what they team looks like, etc. It is pretty crude, but it serves a purpose.
For next season I'm going to improve it a bit. Features I've thought of adding are:
- Player cards, showing a few details of each player, including where they were picked last year.
- Cap/avatars, so each player can link in with their favourite team (similar to the flags used at predictionfootball.com).
- Links, so that people can find useful resources easily (especially when the likes of CNNSI and ESPN change their links every so often).
- Commissioner annoucements (date the draft starts, free agent pool opens, etc.).
- Player "wish lists" for each team, so that a Commissioner can view who they'd like to pick if a player is away.
Anyone done anything like this in the past? Or have any features they think would be useful?

Don't have an answer but I have a question...
How do you access the sports data? Is there a way to access it free of charge?
I am in a Yahoo Fantasy Football league (American) right now and I wanted to create an app to do more advanced calculations off of player data for my friends and I. I was also in a Yahoo Baseball league last season where I was looking to do the same type of thing.
If you can even point me in the right direction, I would appreciate it. Thx.

It's been done
I was in a fantasy basketball league about 3 years ago and one manager developer an app for advanced stats. The data was updated daily. Hmm, wish I knew how. Well, good luck to you.
