Drupal vs. Magento

Post by gado763 »

Hi there,

I have employed Wordpress for a while no, but it’s about time for a new CMS that offers more features. I would love it if you could help me decide between Magento and Drupal. In particular, here’s what I am mostly concerned with: How to create the same content in two languages... How do features like that work and what are they referred to as? I saw something like that on this website here, which runs on Magento. Please help me with this.

Thanks in advance!
Ciao

Magento is the system for eCommerce, and not a CMS in a general sense

What features do you need that Wordpress does not have? I suspect there are existing Wordpress plugins that would meet your needs.

I have done a fair amount of custom work in Magento. It is great out of the box for eCommerce, but it is extremely complex to customize and add on features. I avoid it like the plague.

Ive worked extensively for the past 3 - 4 years with Magento.

Magento is far from 'great out of the box' You ned to invest alot of time and money on your server infrastructure to run Magento with anything like the speed that isnt going to alienate your visitors, as also touched upon by the previous poster it is somewhat overly complicated and convoluted when you want to make even minor adjustments. Magento wants things to work a certain way, the moment youi deviate from that is when you enter a world of pain.

Im currently in the process of migrating a major online business from Magento to a bespoke solution after dealing with Magento';s pit falls for the past 3 years, i am very glad we are heading this route and i will no longer hav to deal with Magento's system.
