3d Printers

Post by shiznatix »

Long time member, long time since posting.

I am thinking of buying a 3d printer but since it is quite a bit of cheddar for one, I want to make sure I get a good one.

First, does anyone know of any forums dedicated to 3d printing? I haven't found any that seam actually active.

All the other questions:
1) Does anyone have any expierence with 3d printers? Any advice, examples, reviews would be awesome.

2) It seams that most 3d printers print a hard plastic. Is it possible to print with a hard rubber of some sort? Something flexable but doesn't have to be super flexable.

3) Most of the printers I have seen have a max print size of 6"x6x6. How easy is it to "solder" pieces together, so that I can make something bigger and connect the pieces? for example, if I wanted to make a box that was 1ft wide, would this be possible?

4) The fillaments seam to cost about $30 for 1kg. How much does that equal to? Like, how many 6"x6x6 hollow boxes could be printed with that?

5) Can printers be filled with different fillaments without causing issues or does 1 printer only take 1 type of fillament?

6) Does anyone know where I can buy one in Europe? I have found several US suppliers but shipping to Estonia is about $140 which is over a fith of the actual price (crazy!)

Thanks!

I don't know much at all about them, but you may want to try asking here: http://www.reddit.com/r/3dprinting
