iCloud not working on Win 8 - why?

Hi

I am running Windows 8.
I have an issue that Apple is looking into for me, but wondering if others have come across this. So here's the deal.......

I take a photo on my iPad. It goes straight to My Photo Stream. On my Win 8 laptop I see the photo appear in My Photo Stream folder.
I delete the photo from the iPad. It deletes from the Stream there, and disappears from the laptop Stream window.

I then take another photo. Again, it appears on both. I delete the photo from the Stream on the laptop window, but it does not delete it from either Apple's servers (this is confirmed), nor my iPad screen.

Why?
I have tested this with no AV software installed, as well as with Kaspersky installed and AVG installed (separately).

It works on my older Dell machine.

We are all stumped so far. So if anyone has come across this and found the magical answer, please shout.

All I can offer is 1) make sure you're running the whatever software v2.1 (not 2.0) and 2) Troubleshooting Shared Photo Streams by (basically) removing the stream and readding it.

i've tried uninstalling it, deleting the folder, and then reinstalling, but it doesn't make a diff. I am on 2.1.2.

I've sorted it partly by that link sent. The answer is (for anyone searching here for an answer) that on Win 8 it puts Photo Stream in My Computer, but ALSO in My Pictures. But what is does is disables the My Pictures from being edited - so if you delete it from there thinking you can delete from Photo Stream - you can't.

You have to do it from the extra place in My Computer - that DOES delete it from the Cloud.

No one at Apple asked about this, tho they did see a screenshot of the folder. No one spotted it.
