imho i think this should be stopped, really, do u ppl care if whoever posts is a noob or not? you'll notice anyways in how they ask questions or how they program and do things anyways...
vague topics like 'Help for a Newbie', they should be warned of this...
i usually don't open those cuz i don't have time to help newbies, i help ppl with more enthusiasm with questions like "How to read all files in a directory" or "Variable is not passing correctly"... what do u guys think? i think this is one is posted in every forum but ppl don't read it, so something else has to be done...

agreed, I also avoid any post with 'URGENT' in the title... that's annoying.

Labeling is always a bad thing, internet or in real life. but it's not gonna stop altogether, theres too many jerks who decide to call everyone without "1337" skills a "n00b" or some other put down.
Everyone started as a begginer, I don't see why people must try to make themselves feel better by making fun of someone else..

I agree. Only 2% of my answers where given to this kind of questions. Sometimes I open and read. I don't answer them for three reasons:
• They are too easy and fastly answered, since while I'm writing/previewing my post someone else has already posted an answer.
• They have already been answered and don't need another comment
• The guy is so newbie that he can't tell in the words what is the real problem he is facing, making it too senseless and hard to help.
I think the subject should always be a summary of the post content. We don't need to know whether the guy is a newbie or not...
Regards,
Scorphus.

You can't tell a book by its ...title.
True, often the question inside goes along with the topic header but then why not simply point out your
animosity
in a short pm.
imho ignoring them doesn't accomplish anything. They will try another forum and eventually someone answers.

I have issues with ppl who love heredoc

Hey!

....
Anyhow, the newbies thing. I find it very annoying. I was going to bring this up, but for some reason I havn't.
Well, I do read the posts with a "Help, I'm a newbie" topic but I wouldn't help unless there is some code shown there. That's why you see me asking to post the code most of the time.
Well, imo. Having some code there shows us that "newbie"
has tried and is stuck. If there's no code, it makes me wonder if they're making us write one for them.
Oh well,

I don't mind newbies if they are here to learn. If they are here to grab a script and run, that annoys me.

I open up a topic regardless of the title, it's usually misleading or not the full story of what's inside anyway.
I only ignore posts/IMs when the question is something a new person should have learned at a *very* basic level or something to obvious its just a matter of finding and reading.
In those cases I point to a google search, a manual function or totally ignore it, depends on my mood really.
