Forte abraço,

Yep... it takes long. But not that very much. Have some benchs in my site:

The main page:
Server-runtime: 0.46392297744751 seconds

A more complex page:
Server-runtime: 0.95858097076416 seconds

Now a page with mysql connection (the first connection after boot-up):
Server-runtime: 9.2176619768143 seconds (lol)

Another page with mysql conn:
Server-runtime: 0.77618396282196 seconds

In my PIII 933 MHz these times are around 0.06 secs. And in my free webserver they are about 0.2 secs.

I was wondering why the very first mysql connection takes soo that long? What do you think?

i have set up php, apache, mysql on my own main computer running windows Xp, it has 256 ram, 60 GB HD + 120 GB USB drive, that computer is for playing games lol, its only for testing out my scripts beofre i upload them to client's server, never had a problem with it :D.

i work on projects from my laptop with wireless network card, and also from another computer in another room.. i can code php from anywhere in 400m lol...geeky? :P

one weird thing though, i was thinking of settings up the server with php on the USB drive, everything was fine, includeing the mysql, but the sessions didnt work for some reason, never knew why so i installed it back on the main drive :P

i am still planning on installing linux, but need windows too, so i am searching around for a good partion program which would put window files in one part and make a clean new partion for linux to run on :D (any ideas?)

It is powered by Debian 3 GNU/Linux 2.4.22 and take almost 3 minutes to boot up. I don't mind at all... only the fact that my Apache is killed every morning at 11:32

Build it yourself. You'll get better prices and learn on the way. If you don't care to do that, then I would go a deal such as that.
I'm interested in a new system also. I was strongly advised not to build my own, even though I know how, from a guy who works at a computer parts store (future shop to be exact). He told me there is no warranty so if anything goes wrong it's garbage.

Should i listen to his advice? I thought it was rather dumb because don't new processors and motherboards come with individual warranties also?
Absolutely not. He seems to be the kind of person that's overly cautious about things...breaking. To be blunt, if something breaks in your computer, it's most likely your fault. If you know what you're doing and research, research, and research like I did, then you'll be where you need to be when the time comes to building your PC.

However, if you don't trust yourself with building your own computer, then by all means, don't do it. It's mainly a learning experience when building a computer. You learn how it works, and when a problem arises, you know exactly where the problem can be solved.

I say go for it. Build your own. :D Check out ZipZoomFly (formerly googlegear.com) for the best prices around (free 2nd day shipping, too).

go by ur-self

Wel Phice,
I donot know the system over there in US but here in Pakistan every part of PC has it's own warranty like a processor has one year warranty and same is the case for other things.

But i have an advice for you....

Dot belive on a guy or any one who told U the whole story wot U do is that U just go to shop or store by ur-self and gather all the info in this way you will be able to decide wot to do?

regards

geez, everything here in the US is more expensive because of taxes, which in turn keep this country running smoothly except for a few minor issues... the tax rate here is like 7%... how much is it in pakistan?
