I have a Seagate backup drive, but have since read that Windows 8.1 won't run Seagate Manager.
So I need some software that will kick-in and run a backup of specific folders I set when I plug the drive in.
Is there such a piece of software?
Is there a good Windows 8.1 backup software for ex. HDD?

That's odd, but I don't have an external drive, so I don't know about software for them not running.
A quick google search yielded this though, maybe it'll give you some idea.

No this is not for Web-based. This is for a drive.
Those were web based... or did I miss something?

They're cloud services you can back things up on. I have an internal drive I use for backups, and have OneDrive sync with that. So by backups are on the drive, but also backed up on the cloud.
However, if that doesn't fit your needs, another search gave me this, these entries are mostly desktop applications, so they might fit your needs better

Well I backup to Mega. But the problem is, the moment anything changes on your PC, it's uploaded to Mega - so make a mistake, and it's permanent.
So I use to store "archived" versions of things, and obviously the "current" version.
But when I tried my small Seagate drive, it connected but wouldn't backup.
Now it will. So I can use this again. Thx.

Not sure how it is holding up anymore (haven't used it in a while), but used to use Acronis True Image (http://www.acronis.com/en-us/personal/pc-backup/)
Anymore though, all my "working files" are in Cubby (like Dropbox), which keeps revisions, and then once a week I do a driect raw copy of both hard drives over to an external hard drive.
