Wordpress Multi site: virtual subdomains

Post by simonmlewis »

Hi

I know someone who has a web site with Wordpress, but they have a sub site as well for their friend.
To look at their friend's domain, it's a subdomain of their main site.

If you login to their site, you can see both sites in the top admin menu, but also a Network Admin dropdown too.

So I want to know if the Duplicator plugin can work to pick up both at once, or if that's not not feasible?

It may be a better solution to separate these two sites, so they are physically in their own Databases, and the subdomain is an actual subdomain instead.
Love PHP. Love CSS. Love learning new tricks too.
All the best from the United Kingdom.

I have done multisite setups before but that was mostly for sites with very closely related content. It's a bit of a pain to work with and even more of a pain than usual to migrate, so I would lean toward avoiding it if at all possible. WP itself doesn't take a ton of room, so having two installs running shouldn't be a concern.
