Video Cutting Software

Are they any free, simple software packages that you can import an MP4 or other video type, and cut it up - ie. I have some 10 min vids that need cutting into a few minutes each.

I'd like to do something like what Audacity does for Audio.

Is there a good one for video?

There are a number of open source video editors (e.g. Blender, Lightworks, etc.), plus both Windows and Mac come with basic video editors.

I've opened Movie Maker, but you cannot see the frames. I need to see the frames to be able to 'cut' it.

Then try Blender, Lightworks, DaVinci Resolve, Avidemux, Shotcut, etc. etc.

I'm trying Blender. Have imported a 1 hour video and cut out the Start and End frames for a 2 min section of it.
But is really taking ages to cut out 2 mins.

My laptop is pretty powerful, so is that normal?

It seems that it is taking it frame by frame, storing the PNG files. For two mins, I have 5,968 > 10,263 frames to be rendered.
Didn't think it would take so long. I will need some 10 min ones doing. Is this normal to be so slow?

Could be the Res should not be send to 1920.

Welcome to the world of video editing. Now you know why the Hollywood digital video and effects guys jump on Linux early for render farms.

You can set the resolution lower if your source is lower resolution or output resolution will be lower.
