I have grown to hold this Forum in very high regard. It is very rare that I see questions go unanswered with people being pointed at very least in a good general direction. This forum quickly shot up my person favorites list and has become the first place I go when I have a question about PHP. All this on a forum that is not directly tied to a commercial product. Just a bunch of enthusiast sharing their knowledge. You begin to take this vast knowledge base for advantage after awhile and forget it’s not so IRIE in other parts of the web.
Occasionally, I have a problem that is not related to PHP and I venture back into other forums as the case recently with a problem I had with Flash. I posted to a couple of sites looking for answers, and I’ll admit most of the time I sarcastically think to myself “let’s see if these people know anything”. A lot of the newsgroups/forums out there are pretty good. Granted you have to know how to read the post to determine if the person writing it really knows what they are talking about. I even find a lot of useful information on the Microsoft Newsgroup http://support.microsoft.com/newsgroups/default.aspx .
Then there’s the other end of the spectrum. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been disappointed in the forums on Macromedia’s site. I have rarely ever gotten good information from that site. For a forum supporting commercial products like those of Macromedia, it is a real disappointment. I use to use Macromedia products almost exclusively and it really got to the point where posting to their forums became a last ditch effort that I didn’t honestly expect a response on. And very often didn’t receive one.
So the point of this post? Mainly to blow of steam from a day of frustration posting to other groups looking for answers and to again praise the individuals who run this forums and the knowledge depth of the community that participates in it.

Here here!! I also find these forums and this site VERY good and full of knowledgable individuals who almost are always able to help. Primarily with PHP, but most usually know enough to even assist with non-PHP issues. So I usually almost always ask here first, and other places second.
For me I usually only go to forums when I have questions. I find myself coming back here much more frequently, even if I don't have a problem. I like to read questions and answers to learn more myself. And I like to try to help others if I feel I can.
